Fresh back from Korea. We did a 8 days tour, Jeju, ski, Seoul. A few interesting highlights...
-On Jeju Island (Cheju-Do) widows have a traditional job of diving as their livelihood. The best part? 30+ year old rookie divers can hold their breath for three minutes.
Expert 70+ year old divers can hold their breaths for... ... 7 minutes.
7.
-Abalone porridge has no visible signs of abalone.
-A winter meal can be generalised as something soupy or spicy on a mini wok or aluminium foil on a portable stove.
-It's still very delicious.
-Certain graves are built in a circular pyramidal shape. Apparently 'higher = easier to go up'. They never thought of 'higher = more painful fall downwards'.
-40+ year old men pointed and gabbled excitedly when they spotted mountain goats. Children joined in, and teenagers snapped photos and moved on.
-Boiled silkworm is apparently a Korean delicacy.
-It makes me want to puke. Right into the bowl of silkworm, that I may save others from their terrible fate.
-They still build fires to keep warm.
-It's very effective.
-Husky dog rides aren't very enjoyable with -7°C winds in your face.
-The dogs gave up pulling my father halfway in favour of quarelling with each other.
-Ice skating is ten times as difficult to pick up as skiing.
-I smashed into an old man.
-I managed to brake the last time I tried.
-Ski boots make you walk like a robot.
-40+ year old men pointed and gabbled excitedly when they spotted snowflakes on the outside of our tour bus windows. Children joined in, and teenagers snapped photos and sat down.
-A room's price increased a hundred times. All because a star used it for filming. Refer to 秋天童话.
-Ginseng roots are used as decorative items, submerged in liquid a la Haunted-Bio-Lab-2 foetus.
-Only it is much much more artistic.
-Magpies in Korea = Mynahs in Singapore

Well, it was the best trip we had in years. To top it off, Korean Air screened Catwoman on our way back.
Purrrfect.
But then we had to re-climatise back to Singapore weather, and developed itches and all sorts of unimaginable stuff.
